Prior to being named Executive Director of Women Leading Ed, Emily served as a Principal at ILO Group, providing strategic vision for large scale capacity building, strategic planning, and large-scale implementation support, while leading unprecedented education leadership research initiatives.
Before ILO, Emily served as Chief of Strategy and Advancement of InspireNOLA Charter Schools, the highest performing open-admissions charter management organization in New Orleans. There, she led strategic planning and growth initiatives for the growing network and oversaw human resources, talent, communications, external relations, and data departments. She oversaw the network’s expansion efforts, increasing from two schools serving 1,700 students to eight schools serving over 5,600 students over a six year period.
Emily spent over a decade leading and supporting education organizations with start-up, expansion, and strategic improvement efforts. She began her career as a second-grade teacher and also worked as an instructional coach, curriculum director, and school administrator.
Education
Emily earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and business from Tulane University and a master’s degree in education leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College.
