WLE Emerging State Executives Network

In anticipation of significant changes in state education leadership due to upcoming gubernatorial elections, the need for prepared, visionary leaders has never been greater. In response, Women Leading Ed has launched the Emerging State Executives (ESE) Network, a pioneering initiative dedicated to investing in and advancing exceptional women in state education roles nationwide.

This highly-selective program is designed to equip proven women leaders with the tools and support they need to ascend to top positions in state education agencies (SEAs). As new opportunities emerge, the WLE ESE Network ensures that these leaders are ready to step into roles where they can make a lasting impact.

With the inaugural cohort now launched, we are gathering interest for the second cohort. The program will remain capped to maintain an intimate and powerful experience. By joining the WLE ESE network, women leaders will benefit from learning experiences that include:

  • Lifelong membership into Women Leading Ed

  • Admittance to the Forum for Educational Leadership

  • Participation in an SEA Community of Practice

  • In-person and virtual peer-to-peer development sessions

  • Shadowing and sponsorship from former and current SEA leaders

  • Personalized coaching, job search, and placement supports

  • Training in board relations, public speaking, and media preparation

  • Engagement in real-life problem of practice consultancy sessions

The WLE ESE Network is led by Dr. Julia Rafal-Baer, founder and CEO of Women Leading Ed, a distinguished education leader with a proven track record of creating impactful organizations and programs that touch nearly every student nationwide. Her initiatives, including Women Leading Ed, the Forum for Educational Leadership, and Future Chiefs and Women in Leadership, have shaped the landscape of education leadership across the country. She will be joined in this effort by leading women SEA leaders from bipartisan administrations nationwide.
